Hi, I’m Aoife FENNELL.
Aoife is an Accredited Integrative Holistic Play Therapist who supports children and families to navigate emotional, behavioural, and life challenges in a safe, nurturing, and creative way. Her work is grounded in helping children feel understood, build resilience, and develop the skills they need to thrive.
With a background in the creative arts, including music and theatre, Aoife brings a naturally creative and engaging approach to her therapeutic work. She has extensive experience supporting children in both community and private settings, including her work at Newbridge Family Resource Centre and within her own practice, Inner Path Play Therapy. Here, she offers a dedicated space where children can express themselves freely, process their experiences, and begin to heal.
Aoife takes a holistic, child-centred approach, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the child. By integrating play therapy, creative techniques, and mindfulness-based practices, she supports children in building emotional awareness, strengthening coping skills, and increasing confidence and self-esteem.
She is also deeply committed to supporting parents. Aoife understands that when a child is struggling, the whole family can feel the impact. She works alongside parents to strengthen connection, improve understanding of their child’s needs, and support more calm, confident parenting.
Aoife has a particular interest in working with families navigating chronic illness and medical trauma, informed by her own lived experience of Type 1 Diabetes. This allows her to offer both professional expertise and genuine empathy to families facing these challenges.
Alongside her clinical work, Aoife is passionate about advancing play therapy in Ireland. She is a board member of Play Therapy Ireland, the longest-standing professional body for play therapists in Ireland, contributing to the development and recognition of the profession nationwide. She is also currently furthering her professional development as a trainee Clinical Creative Supervisor and Adolescent Psychotherapist, ensuring her work continues to be informed by current best practice.
At Inner Path Play Therapy, Aoife’s focus is simple: to help children feel safe, supported, and understood - while equipping them and their families with the tools to move forward with greater ease and confidence.
Aoife looks forward to supporting you and your family on this journey.
